About the Business
Murdoch Architects is based at Methven Castle, a Category A Listed building, some four miles west of Perth on the Crieff Road (A85). The Castle was restored during the 1980's by the founding partner of the practice and has been the winner of Civic Trust and Highlight Our Heritage awards. In 1993 David Murdoch addressed the annual convention of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland on the Ecological Rehabilitation of Methven Castle. The castle played host to sixty guests from Britain and Europe at the Convention dinner.
Particular success has been achieved in the field of restoration, both in terms of rehabilitation / refurbishment and extension with considerable knowledge of historical and listed buildings have been assembled. Accolades for completed work such as awards from the Civic Trust and Dundee Institute of Architects, for both large and small projects and the listing of a new housing scheme, only eight years after its completion illustrate the success achieved.
