In my design approach I am using (among other tools) the system of design patterns described in the book 'Pattern Language' and later works of Austrian/American architect Christopher Alexander. Thebook "Pattern Language" describes design elements that can be in combinations incorporated in a project. The book itself exposes some shortcomings of Intenational Style and "Modern Architecture". It is highly regarded by Permaculture and Transition Towns movements.
