Alchemilla Architects Ltd is a RIBA Chartered Practice based in rural Somerset in the Blackdown Hills with easy access to Taunton and Chard and most of the South-West, currently working as far afield as Cornwall and Oxfordshire. Our work ranges from extensions and refurbishment projects to single houses and small housing estates. A development of high-end holiday lets, a conversion of a listed building to offices and a swimming pool are part of our current workload.
The principal, John Matthews, has spent over twenty-five years building his expertise in architecture, resulting in a thorough knowledge of building techniques and materials. This Stone barn just outside of St Columb Major is to be converted into a two bedroom home for our clients. The design retains all the original features, such as the large side openings and granite quoin stones, however as the barn is relatively small the addition of a sympathetic extension to the north and the rebuilding of the collapsing lean-to on the south have been incorporated, both are to be finished with matching stone and quoins.
